KCCI EIGHT NEWS BEGINS WITH BREAKING NEWS. BREAKING NEWS FROM MARION COUNTY. A MAN IS IN THE HOSPITAL TONIGHT AFTER A SKYDIVING ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENED THIS AFTERNOON NEAR THE KNOXVILLE AIRPORT. THE MARION COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS A 62-YEAR-OLD MAN FROM THE DES MOINES AREA WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THEY SAID A GROUP OF SKYDIVERS JUMPED FROM NEARLY 15,000 FT TO ABOUT 4,000 FT. THEY NOTICED THE MAN HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIS PARACHUTE. HE GOT OUT OF CONTROL AND HIT THE GROUND. UNTIL NOW WE DO NOT KNOW THE MAN’S NAME

An Iowa man was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a skydiving accident. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a group of skydivers jumped from 15,000 feet just before 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. At about 4,000 feet, members of the group noticed a man having a problem with his parachute. The man spun out of control and hit the ground near the Knoxville airport. Officials have not yet identified the man, but said he is a 62-year-old man from the Des Moines area. KNOXVILLE, Iowa —

An Iowa man was hospitalized Friday afternoon following a skydiving accident.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a group of skydivers jumped from an altitude of 15,000 feet just before 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. At about 4,000 feet, members of the group noticed a man who had a problem with his parachute. The man went out of control and landed on the ground near the Knoxville airport.

Officials have not yet identified the man, but said he is a 62-year-old man from the Des Moines area. He was flown by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital with serious injuries.
