Family speaks out after fatal attack on 79-year-old father

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. – The family of Maurice Elmore, 79, who was fatally attacked in Southfieldmade his statement on Friday during a press conference at police headquarters.

“My father was perfect,” said Jill Elmore. “There is nothing bad to say about him. He was a loving man.”

Her 79-year-old father, Maurice Elmore, was brutally attacked on May 30 while walking in the area of ​​Telegraph Road and Franklin Road.

Maurice was taken to hospital and succumbed to his injuries on Monday (June 10).

Southfield Police have arrested suspect Stavon Lindsay.

During Friday’s press conference, police released surveillance video showing Lindsay allegedly attacking Maurice.

“While Mr. Elmore is on the ground, the suspect repeatedly attacks him by kicking and punching him,” said Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren.

Another surveillance video from the night of the attack shows Lindsay allegedly destroying property and attacking a man on a bicycle.

Barren said Lindsay suffers from mental disorders.

Lindsay was charged with several crimes, including the murder of Maurice.

He is being held without bail.
