LA County firefighter killed in apparent explosion in Antelope Valley

A Los Angeles County firefighter was reportedly killed in a heavy-duty truck explosion in Antelope Valley on Friday.

Authorities have not released the name of the firefighter or provided information about the cause of the explosion, which occurred early afternoon in the 6500 block of East Avenue in Littlerock.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department has scheduled a press conference for 6 p.m. to discuss “the death of one of our firefighters in the line of duty,” according to a post on the social media platform X.

Earlier this year, nine Los Angeles firefighters were injured when a tank of compressed natural gas exploded while they were extinguishing a tractor-trailer fire.
