Weather in Denver: Severe weather warnings for Friday, day of precise weather warning

DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Warning day is in effect Friday for the Denver metropolitan area and eastern Plains due to the threat of severe storms.

The storms began to explode near Denver around 2 p.m. and are expected to be mostly east of the metropolitan area by 5 p.m. From there, they will continue to move northeast toward Nebraska and are expected to exit Colorado around sunset.

The break from the sweltering 30 degrees won’t last long for Denver’s weather, as things will heat up again over the weekend. The forecast calls for temperatures that will be about 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of year. That means Father’s Day temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s every afternoon.

The Pinpoint Weather team, Colorado’s most accurate weather forecaster, is also monitoring the chance of isolated showers south of the city on Saturday. Otherwise, it will be a mostly sunny weekend.

Weather tonight: Clearing skies and mild

The evening thunderstorms will leave the state around sunset on Friday. The skies will then clear overnight. The wind will be from the south in most places.

In the mountains of Colorado it will remain cool and pleasant with lows around 4 degrees. In the eastern plains and the Denver metropolitan area it will remain mild with temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees.

Weather tomorrow: Hot with isolated thunderstorms

Early Saturday will be mostly sunny with some high clouds, followed by a few passing clouds late in the day. There could be isolated showers over the mountains, moving south of Denver and across the Palmer Divide.

Otherwise, it will be hot again, with afternoon temperatures above 27 degrees in the highlands and hot 30 degrees throughout the eastern half of the state.

Outlook: Cooling due to afternoon thunderstorms

Father’s Day will continue to be hot, but there will also be plenty of sunshine. Sunday will be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures around 35 degrees. Similar temperatures will continue on Monday, as it will remain sunny and dry.

On Tuesday, a cold front will reach us, which will ease the after-heat and allow maximum temperatures to rise again to over 27 degrees Celsius for several days.

There is also a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms each day through the end of the week. There doesn’t seem to be much moisture, so the thunderstorm threat will remain isolated to scattered.
