The patient was airlifted to UC Hospital with unknown injuries.

(Lawrenceburg, IN) – At approximately 9:04 a.m., the Lawrenceburg Fire Department received a report of a person jumping from the Carroll Cropper Bridge.

The on-duty crew went to the Tanners Creek boat ramp and launched the department’s boat. When they arrived, police units from Indiana and Kentucky were on the bridge conducting an investigation.

The Lawrenceburg Fire Department began with a single unit using a crawling line as a search pattern. Police units from Indiana and Kentucky searched the water with drones.

The boat was recovered and a coordinated search was again initiated. After the search was completed, LFD contacted Boone County officials on the Kentucky coast. LFD was then dispatched downriver to identify the objects found.

The Hebron Fire Department arrived and worked with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department in the area they covered near the bridge. The rescue boat headed downstream to identify additional objects spotted by nearby surveillance cameras.

As the rescue boat approached, they found the victim floating on his back. A Lawrenceburg Rescue swimmer jumped in and made contact with the victim, who was conscious and able to talk.

The swimmers verbally interviewed the injured man while swimming to the boat. The victim was taken to the boat and examined by paramedics for visible injuries.

The LFD went to the River Watch Restaurant where treatment was turned over to Lawrenceburg paramedics.

The patient was flown by Air Care to UC Hospital with unknown injuries.
