Arrest made in connection with Crowley incident that left three people injured | Crime/Police

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting in Crowley involving Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office officers earlier this month that left three people injured.

According to Louisiana State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Jacob Richard, 52, of Rayne, was spotted by APSO officers on South Avenue H near Magnolia Street around 5 p.m. on June 3. Officers sought to arrest Richard, who was wanted for several crimes.

Richard attempted to flee the area on foot. According to state police, when he was arrested, Richard stabbed both officers with a knife, injuring them. One officer fired his weapon, striking Richard.

Both injured deputies were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Richard was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on several outstanding warrants and two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, state police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
