Possible hazmat incident, multiple people with breathing difficulties at school in San Jose

Firefighters responded to a possible hazardous materials incident at a San Jose middle school Wednesday morning.

The San Jose Fire Department said crews were at Sunrise Middle School in the 1100 block of E Julian St. in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood. In a post on the social media platform X, the fire department said there were reports of several patients having difficulty breathing.

Fire officials said traffic on E Julian St. was impacted and asked people to avoid the area.
