Accident in the convoy of the elected Mexican president, fine for Sheinbaum

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum’s motorcade was involved in an accident on Friday, her team said in a statement, killing one person and injuring several others. The car Sheinbaum was traveling in was not involved in the accident.

Sheinbaum stopped to check on the injured, who her team said were already being cared for by emergency crews following the crash in Monclova, a city in the northern state of Coahuila.

“We deeply regret that a person in the other vehicle died,” the statement said.
