Fatal train accident involving cyclist: SDPD

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Officials are on the scene of a reported fatal train crash in San Diego Friday afternoon.

First responders and deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a collision between a train and a pedestrian around 1 p.m. Friday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Sorrento Valley Road at the end of I-805 in San Diego.

San Diego police confirmed to FOX 5/KUSI that the cyclist’s injuries were fatal. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s age.

Several lanes are closed in the area as police divert traffic around the accident scene.
