1 person hospitalized after car crash on I-79 in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after a one-car crash on Interstate 79 in Monongalia County near the Interstate 68 interchange.

According to a Monongalia County 911 Center official, emergency responders were notified of a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 147 of I-79 around 2:30 p.m. When emergency responders arrived on scene, they found one person had sustained injuries that required them to be transported to the hospital for further treatment.


The extent of the person’s injuries and the cause of the accident have not been released, but West Virginia State Police are investigating this incident. West Virginia 511 data and traffic camera footage showed traffic in the area was slowed but has returned to normal as of 3:20 p.m.

Crews from the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department, Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, Westover Fire Department, Mon EMS and West Virginia State Police responded to this emergency call.
