Attack on Pinole Police Department employees

A 65-year-old man was arrested after assaulting a Pleasant Hill police officer on Tuesday.

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a male subject entered the Pinole Public Safety Building (880 Tennent Avenue, Pinole) and walked around the reception area while a police officer assisted a citizen at the reception desk.

The suspect used the drinking fountain and then attempted to open the locked front door leading to the interior office area of ​​the police department. The suspect then sat down and waited approximately two minutes for our officer to assist the citizen.

As the citizen finished her business and left the area, the male offender approached the front counter where our employee greeted him. The offender responded by reaching out and pressing the bell on the counter several times. Within seconds, the offender grabbed our employee by the right arm.

The victim fought back and the offender pulled her toward him, preventing her from escaping. The victim was able to break free of the offender’s grasp and the offender climbed over the counter and through a window. The victim retreated into the main hallway and the offender chased after her. With the help of another employee, the victim was able to enter the administrative office area. Officers who were in the department at the time heard the commotion and quickly made their way to the reception area. They located the offender in the main hallway and safely arrested him.

The victim suffered minor injuries to her right arm when the perpetrator grabbed and dragged her. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

The perpetrator was arrested and identified as Victoriaa 65-year-old man from unincorporated San Pablo Parish. He was arrested at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of Burglary (PC 460(b)), Kidnapping (PC 207(A)), False Imprisonment (PC 236), Assault (PC 243(A), Assault (PC 241(A)), and a warrant.
