Natchez man dies in equipment accident in Rapides Parish

NATCHEZ – A Natchez man died in an equipment accident in Rapides Parish last week.

According to reports, Willie Newman, 34, of Natchez tragically died on June 6 as a result of traumatic injuries sustained in an equipment accident on a property in the 4300 block of Pardue Street in Ball, Louisiana, north of Pineville.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the cause of the accident.

According to his obituary, Newman is survived by his wife, Tiffany Newman, his parents, Deliza Thomas and Floyd Newman Sr., his sons, Temarius Burkhalter and Willie Newman Jr., his daughters, Trislynn, Terricka and Trinity, as well as numerous siblings and other family and friends. One of his daughters, Alyssa Newman, has already passed away.

He graduated from Natchez High School in 2009, continued his education at Copiah Lincoln Community College and worked as a truck driver.

The funeral arrangements will be handled by West Gate Funeral Home.
