1 dead and 2 injured in collision with garbage truck in East Fishkill

A 74-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a crash Thursday morning on Route 52 in East Fishkill.

According to police, a garbage truck was traveling eastbound when it collided with a car while exiting Leetown Road around 8 a.m. The driver of the truck, Thomas Dunne, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers, believed to be Dunne’s grandchildren, were hospitalized with minor injuries, authorities said. The garbage truck driver was also taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

According to police, the accident is still being investigated.
