1 person arrested in connection with undercover prostitution and drug investigation at a Secaucus go-go bar

The Secaucus police chief is calling on the state to close AJ’s, a go-go bar in Secaucus, after an undercover police officer was offered sex for money.

Secaucus police said they received a tip in April that prostitution was still being conducted at the Secaucus Road nightclub. During the week of June 10, authorities said, undercover officers were at AJ’s Go-Go Bar as part of an investigation. One arrest was made after an undercover officer was offered sexual favors in exchange for money, authorities said.

According to police, 36-year-old Dilcia Nunez Gomez of Belleville was charged with engaging in prostitution and promoting prostitution.

“The State Alcohol and Beverage Control Board continues to allow AJ’s despite my request to revoke their license,” Police Chief Dennis Miller said in a statement. “I commend the efforts of our investigators for their continued hard work, but I feel that my police department is working alone. The State Alcohol and Beverage Control Board’s inaction continues to allow sex crimes to flourish at AJ’s.”

In recent years, there have been thirteen arrests at AJ’s for prostitution and drug offenses.
