Traffic incident involving paintball gun leads to arrest: Police

An Ohio man was arrested in connection with a DUI incident on I-70 in Howard County involving a paintball gun.



HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An Ohio man was arrested after pulling out a paintball gun during a DUI incident that occurred Thursday morning on I-70 in Howard County, according to police.

The victim told Maryland State Police that on June 13, around 9:30 a.m., he was driving west on I-70, just west of the West Friendship Scale House. He called 911 to report that the driver of a blue Chevrolet had pointed a firearm at him during an incident of driving aggression. According to MSP, the victim gave police a license plate number.

Police found the suspect vehicle traveling westbound on I-70 at MD-15 in Frederick and stopped the driver. While speaking with the driver, police learned that James Wells, 39, of Ohio had pointed a paintball gun at the victim, which he turned over to police. Wells was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree assault.
