52 thefts later, a man was arrested for stealing $30,000 from Target stores

LA PLATA, Maryland. – On June 12, 2024, La Plata Police Department officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at Target, 60 Shinning Willow Way. Working with the Loss Prevention Manager, officers arrested the subject in the parking lot without incident.

The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation in which the suspect was involved in 52 separate shoplifting incidents at 11 different Target stores, resulting in the theft of a total of $30,000 in merchandise.

The offender, Michael Lee, 38 years old of Hyattsville, MD, was transported to the Charles County Detention Center for arraignment and processing.
