Bill Gross has a love-hate relationship with the concept of a “bond king” operating in the bond markets.

Having previously stated that no one, especially not his former rival and founder of DoubleLine Capital, Jeff Gundlach, deserved the award, he now said that the head of the Federal Reserve was the only person who could truly claim the title.

But in classic Gross misdirection, he has also chosen to base his monthly investment outlook on the title: “The King and I,” in which he summarizes 46 years of market views on topics such as the founding of Pimco, his time in the U.S. armed forces, and his views on the latest Barbie movie.
