A section of I-26 is closed due to a car fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – North Charleston Police are reportedly on the scene of a vehicle fire that has closed eastbound I-26 at mile marker 205, which leads to Highway 78.

SCDOT cameras show eastbound traffic backed up bumper to bumper as emergency crews deal with the situation.

No injuries have been reported so far.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice and seek alternative routes.

Police released a photo of the vehicle, which appears to be a work truck, completely engulfed in flames.
