Atlanta Braves Duo Rally Team While Building on All-Star Deals

Yesterday, the Atlanta Braves broke a potential five-game losing streak with a 6-3 blowout victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The standout player was right-hander Reynaldo López, 6-1, 225 pounds, who tied his season high for strikeouts with eight.

While he was outstanding yesterday, it’s just a small sample of the 30-year-old’s dominance.

López is currently enjoying his most successful season, a testament to his growth and development.

In his first season with the Braves, the Dominican Republic native performed admirably in the starting role. As Major League Baseball’s leader with lowest ERA at 1.69, that’s an impressive feat considering he hasn’t been a full-time starter since his time with the White Sox. Chicago in 2019.

Although López may not have the support of the team like in years past, he says he is gaining confidence in his abilities as a pitcher with each outing.

However, he is not the only Dominican performing at a high level for manager Brian Snitker in 2024.

Marcell Ozuna has been among the best hitters in the National League in ’24.

Since joining the Braves in 2020, designated hitter/former outfielder Marcell Ozuna has had a pretty eventful tenure. It’s been quite a journey, from inconsistent issues on the field to legal issues off the diamond to hitting 40 home runs last season. This season, he took over and became one of the team’s most reliable players as the team’s designated hitter. He is the team leader in the following offensive categories:

In his 5th year at the club, Ozuna has undoubtedly taken a step forward and is leading from the front to get the offense back into rhythm.

The two Dominican Republic natives keep the Atlanta Braves in the middle of the fight; without them, the season would seem much darker than it already seems to some.
