D.C. man arrested in fatal Hotbox Pharmacy robbery

Philip Prendergast, a 41-year-old Silver Spring man, was killed in the robbery.

WASHINGTON – A D.C. man was arrested Monday in connection with a fatal robbery at Northwest Pharmacy Hotbox in March, D.C. police said.

According to police, just before 3 p.m. on March 27, two suspects armed with handguns entered the pharmacy, located near Georgia Avenue and Hamilton Street in Northwest DC

The suspects demanded property and money and the victims complied with their request.

At some point, one of the suspects shot a man in the store before taking the property and money and fleeing. The gunshot victim was taken to an area hospital for help but later died.

He was identified as 41-year-old Philip Prendergast of Silver Spring.

On Monday, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Trenton Collins of Northwest, D.C. in connection with the fatal robbery.

Collins was taken to homicide detectives where he was charged with first-degree armed murder.

Police are still searching for a second suspect who was caught on cameras nearby.


D.C. police are currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any murder committed in the District of Columbia.
