Woman arrested for hit-and-run involving motorcyclist in Patchogue

A Bellport woman was arrested after police say she struck and killed a man on a motorcycle earlier this week and then sped away.

According to detectives, 36-year-old Maria Guallpa-Bonilla was driving at the intersection of Rider Avenue and Main Street in Patchogue on Monday when she hit Christopher Hlavaty.

The 22-year-old volunteer firefighter died in hospital.

A wake will be held for him tomorrow.

Guallpa-Bonilla was charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death.
