First Alert Weather Team monitors warm Father’s Day weekend – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Action News Jax’s First Alert Weather Team is predicting quite warm weather for Father’s Day weekend.

First Alert meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh predicts high temperatures on Friday will be between 86 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (30 and 35 degrees Celsius) on the coast and between 95 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit (35 and 35 degrees Celsius) inland.

The morning rush hour will be dry in most areas, but there will be isolated showers closer to the coast. Isolated showers are expected inland in the afternoon.

Father’s Day weekend looks hot and mostly dry. Temperatures will rise to the high 90s in inland northeast Florida on Saturday and to the high 90s to 100s in southeast Georgia. Temperatures will stay above 75 degrees on the beaches thanks to offshore winds, but those winds will also create a moderate risk of rip currents on the beaches.

In the tropics, two areas are being monitored for development. One is off the coast of the southeastern United States and the other is in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

Neither system poses a threat to our area, but we will continue to experience offshore winds into next week, so there remains a moderate risk of rip currents.
