Scottsdale police officer dies after ‘critical incident’

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A Scottsdale police officer has died following a “critical incident” Thursday night near 76th Street and the Hayden Loop Greenway.

At around 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the scene because an officer urgently needed assistance.

Scottsdale Deputy Police Chief Rich Slavin provided an update on the incident:

The officer was taken to hospital where he later died.

Deputy Police Chief Rich Slavin said the officer, identified as Ryan So, has nine years of experience with the Scottsdale Police Department and has also served in the Navy.

It is not known how the officer was injured.

The police have not yet released any specific details about the incident.

According to official information, there is no danger to the surrounding community.
