Detectives investigate assault and theft in Bethesda; surveillance photos released

Gaithersburg, MD – Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department’s 2nd District are investigating a theft and assault that occurred in the 7000 block of Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The department has released surveillance photos of the suspects and is asking the public for help in identifying them.

Officers’ preliminary investigation has revealed that on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at approximately 1:24 p.m., the unknown suspect entered Macy’s at Westfield Montgomery Mall with a known accomplice and stole property. When anti-theft personnel approached the suspects, they assaulted the employee and then fled the scene.
