ECMC Corporation Announces the Appointment of New Members to its Board of Directors

BUFFALO, NEW YORK—The Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC) Board of Directors has elected new board officers. Eugenio Russi (former executive director of Hispanos Unidos De Buffalo) was elected president, succeeding Jennifer C. Persico, Esq. (partner of Lippes Mathias LLP). Mr. Russi is the first Hispanic American to serve as Chairman of the ECMC Board of Directors. Additionally, Darby Fishkin (COO, CBRE Upstate NY), Treasurer; and Sharon L. Hanson (Chair of the New York State Board of Governors), Secretary.

Eugenio Russi is the former executive director of Hispanos Unidos De Buffalo (HUB), a community-based nonprofit organization serving residents of Buffalo and surrounding counties. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from D’Youville College and served as regional director of the New York State Division of Parole until his retirement in 2012.

Mr. Russi was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Buffalo, New York in 1957. After graduating from high school, Mr. Russi enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Russi returned to Buffalo and became involved in community service, working with various organizations to improve the quality of life for members of the Hispanic community. In 2012, Mr. Russi became Executive Director of Hispanos Unidos De Buffalo. Under Mr. Russi’s leadership, HUB has grown significantly, expanding its range of services to include opioid treatment, senior day social care, and a NYS Health Home, thereby reaching more people in need.
