Minneapolis police seize five illegal firearms during apartment search as part of drug investigation

The Minneapolis Police Department’s Southside REACT team searched an apartment on Tuesday as part of an ongoing drug investigation and discovered a man in illegal possession of three rifles and two handguns.

One of the rifles was a stolen firearm, and the magazines of both rifles were loaded with green-tipped ammunition that can penetrate armor, MPD said.

Both handguns were equipped with automatic triggers that convert semi-automatic firearms into automatic firearms.

An adult man was arrested for possession of all five firearms, police said.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the MPD continues to work to confiscate these guns and hold owners accountable.
