Chamblee officer arrested for child sexual exploitation

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation charged Roy Collar with two counts of disseminating child sexual abuse material.

DALLAS, Ga. – A Chamblee police officer was arrested Monday after being charged with distributing child pornography.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), 48-year-old Roy Collar of Paulding County was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of child sexual material.

Chamblee police said they are aware of pending criminal charges against one of their employees. According to a statement to 11Alive, Collar was immediately relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

“The CPD is disturbed by these allegations. We will continue to monitor the progress of this investigation,” the statement continued.

According to the GBI, the investigation into Collar’s online activities began after the company received a Cyber ​​Tipleline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Chamblee Police Department, the GBI said. A search warrant was issued which led to the officer’s subsequent arrest.

Collar was taken to the Paulding County Jail.
