Man repeatedly raped two girls in Lower Bucks for five years: DA

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A 39-year-old man was convicted Thursday of repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting two girls in Warminster Township over a period of years, authorities said.

Umair Mir of Warminster was found guilty by a Bucks County jury of rape of a child and numerous sex offenses, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said.

Both victims testified during the three-day jury trial before Judge Stephen A. Corr and identified Mir as the person who repeatedly raped and sexually abused them over a period of five years.

Corr adjourned sentencing until September 9 while Mir undergoes an assessment by the Sex Offender Assessment Board.

Because Mir is a Tier III offender, he must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“The strength and courage the victims have shown throughout the investigation and prosecution is nothing short of remarkable,” said District Attorney Jennifer Schorn. “Their brother should also be commended for speaking out and protecting his sisters.”

Both victims and their brother made compelling statements after the conviction.

“For too long I have carried the burden of silence, but today I am reclaiming my voice for an 11-year-old girl who had no chance,” said one of the girls, now 15. “I want to start rebuilding my life, regaining my sense of security and trust, but this time with the right people.”

Her sister, now 17, said: “As a victim of sexual violence, I feel like I carry a backpack full of bricks with me everywhere I go. It’s like I’m constantly being crushed by the memories, the pain and the fear. But despite it all, I refuse to let the darkness consume me. I fight every day to regain my self-esteem and rebuild my shattered confidence.”

During closing arguments Wednesday, Assistant District Attorney Mary Kate Kohler told the jury that Mir sexually abused the girls in nearly every room of the house, even when other people were in the house.

To stop the girls from talking, Mir used threats, ridicule and sometimes physical violence.

“They were the perfect prey for him,” Kohler said. “In a house that was controlled by him, a house that was controlled by fear.”

At the end of 2023, one of the victims told her brother about the sexual torture she had suffered at the hands of Me over the past few years. A second sister also told him that she had been repeatedly abused by Me.

The brother then informed Mir’s wife and in December 2023, an investigation began when Mir’s wife reported the sexual assaults to the children’s high school. The school reported the crimes to the Warminster Township Police Department.

The investigation revealed that one of the girls was first sexually abused by Mir at the age of twelve, and the other at the age of ten or eleven.

For about five years, the girls were raped and sexually abused by Mir about two to three times a week.

During the trial, other people who lived in Mir’s house confirmed some of the details. Evidence was also presented during the trial linking Mir to the sexual abuse.

The brother of the two victims, who had previously testified in the trial, spoke before Judge Corr after Mirr’s conviction.

“Today, I stand before you not just as a brother seeking justice,” he said. “I am the voice of two incredible souls who were robbed of their dignity, innocence and peace by someone who was supposed to protect them. My sisters, whom I love more than anything, were victims of a heinous crime that has shaken our family to its core.” “Rape is not just a violation of the body, it is an attack on the very essence of a person’s soul. It leaves scars that may never fully heal and wounds that go deeper than any physical injury,” he said.

I am also charged with two each of the following counts: involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years of age, sexual abuse of a child under 16 years of age by a person over 11 years of age, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child under 13 years of age, aggravated indecent assault of a child under 16 years of age, endangering the welfare of a child, seduction of a minor, indecent assault of a person under 13 years of age, and indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age.
