Dauphin County Coroner Responds to Late Night Incident at Boat Ramp

The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office responded to a boat launch near Swatara Creek in Lower Swatara Township Thursday evening.

Multiple police and fire units responded to the Swatara Creek Water Trail from at least 9:30 p.m. until shortly after 11 p.m. Dauphin County Emergency Services confirmed the coroner’s office was called to the area, but it is unclear when the first 911 call came in about the incident.

Several boats were launched into the creek before the Dauphin County Coroner’s vehicle pulled into the boat ramp around 10:30 a.m. It was observed leaving the area shortly before 11:10 a.m.

Fire crews and an officer were also dispatched to the 800 block of Clifton Heights Road, directly across from Swatara Creek in Derry Township.

Until Thursday evening it was still unclear how many people were involved and what the cause of death was.

Responding agencies included the Hershey Fire Department, Derry Township Police, Londonderry Fire Department, Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, Penn State Health Life Lion and Waterway Conservation Officers.
