One dead and several injured in fire accident on the Escambia Bay Bridge

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Florida – One person was killed in a fiery accident on the Escambia Bay Bridge Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 2:15 p.m. on I-10 east of Pensacola to Milton, near the Scenic Highway overpass.

Escambia County confirms one death from the burning vehicle. Several people were also taken to the hospital with injuries.

According to the district, a total of three vehicles were involved in the accident.

Further details have not yet been announced.

The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation at the scene.

Traffic congestion is occurring in the area. According to FHP, the road will be closed for an extended period of time.
