Kewanee police find man dead during welfare check, murder investigation underway

KEWANEE, Illinois (KWQC) – Kewanee Police, assisted by other agencies, are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found dead during a welfare check.

On Saturday, June 8, at approximately 10:10 p.m., KPD responded to a welfare check in the 800 block of West Division Street, according to a police department news release. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious man who was pronounced dead at the scene. A death investigation was initiated with assistance from the Illinois State Police and Henry County Sheriff’s Department.

An autopsy was performed on the man found on Tuesday.

He was identified as Damon E. Foulks, 50, of Peoria, Illinois, the news release said. Autopsy results led to an ongoing homicide investigation, according to police. Kewanee police requested assistance from the Henry Mercer County Investigative Task Force in conducting the investigation.
