Man dies after shooting leads to accident in Roanoke, police say

ROANOKE, Virginia. – A man is dead after he was found with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle that crashed in Roanoke Thursday night, according to Roanoke police.

Police said the RPD was notified of an accident in the 2400 block of Cornell Drive NW at 7:20 p.m. Thursday.

We’re told Roanoke Fire-EMS was first on scene and found a vehicle that had crashed into a shed. The vehicle’s sole occupant was unresponsive and had what appeared to be a life-threatening gunshot wound, according to authorities.

Roanoke Fire-EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police said there were few details about the incident. No suspects were found at the scene and no arrests were made.

We were told that the investigation is still in its early stages.

Huff Lane NW is currently closed from Churchill Drive to Floraland Drive NW while officers conduct their investigation. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
