Raytown man killed in Clay County crash on I-35

PLEASANT VALLEY, Missouri – A Raytown, Missouri man was killed in a car crash in Clay County Thursday afternoon.

The accident was reported around 12:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 35, northeast of Pleasant Valley Road.

According to the Missouri State Highway PatrolThe driver of a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis veered off the left side of the road when the vehicle was thrown through the air and struck a concrete wall.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as 79-year-old Alfred Fletcher. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to MSHP.

The crash is currently still under investigation.
