Registered sex offender charged with sexual exploitation of children in Pittsylvania County

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man was arrested on Wednesday, June 12, for alleged sexual offenses against children.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man was arrested on Wednesday, June 12, for alleged sexual offenses involving children.

According to the sheriff, a complaint was received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a crime involving the sexual exploitation of children, and the investigation was conducted by members of the Cybercrime and Criminal Investigation Division.


Following the investigation, 55-year-old registered sex offender Michael Andrew McLeese of Axton was arrested and charged with:

  • Two cases of using communication devices to facilitate certain crimes involving children
  • Violation of probation conditions

McLeese is currently being held without bail in the Pittsylvania County Jail.
