Second suspect arrested in connection with shooting of 17-year-old in January

Goldsboro police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in January.

On January 13, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of North Madison Avenue.

When they arrived, they found a teenager with gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to the UNC Health Wayne emergency room, where he later died.

Investigations and arrests

The Goldsboro Police Department’s investigation led to the arrest of two suspects.

The first suspect, 21-year-old Kenyatta Feronte Sutton, was arrested on May 1 in the 500 block of N. Berkeley Boulevard and charged with first-degree murder.

On Thursday, authorities arrested Samuel L. Thompson around 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Fairview Circle.

He is also charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

According to Goldsboro police, the Emergency Response Team, Investigation Division, NCSHP and the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Task Force assisted in the arrest of Thompson.

Bail and court dates

Thompson was arraigned before a judge and is currently being held without bail at the Wayne County Detention Center.

His first court date is scheduled for Friday.

Sutton was brought before a judge on May 2 and is also being held without bail at the Wayne County Detention Center.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing.
