“Evil Dead Rise” director Lee Cronin announces next project

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, the recently merged genre giants, will produce a new film from “Evil Dead Rise” director Lee Cronin at New Line Cinema.

Cronin will write and direct the top-secret project, which has been hinted will remain in his horror repertoire. The Irish filmmaker will also produce the project through his Doppelgängers label.

New Line, a label of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, has scheduled the film for release in April 2026. It is the studio’s first collaboration with Jason Blum and Atomic Monster boss James Wan.

“Lee’s work is always fresh and surprising, and he has a fascinating, modern take on something quite old that I think audiences will love,” Blum said in a statement. “This also marks an exciting series of firsts for us: Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are collaborating with Lee for the first time, and it’s our first project together for Warner Bros. We can’t wait to get started.”

Cronin added that “returning to New Line Cinema and my wonderful partners there is the icing on the cake. I have something incredibly entertaining and terrifying in store and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen with lots of screaming.”

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing the film. Wan and Jason Blum are producing. Michael Clear and Judson Scott are executive producers. Alayna Glasthal is overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.

Evil Dead Rise was a hit for New Line, grossing nearly $150 million at the box office worldwide. His other films include the hit 2019 horror film The Hole in the Ground.

Cronin is represented by CAA, MGMT Entertainment and, in perhaps the longest firm name in history, attorneys at Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein.
