Air Quality Warning issued for Burlington County

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – An air quality advisory is in effect for Burlington County Friday.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Orange Alert, meaning the area’s air may be unhealthy for children, the elderly and people with heart disease, asthma or other lung conditions.

The health impacts can be minimized by avoiding outdoor sports or strenuous activities, officials said.

Camden and Gloucester counties will also be under orange alert for Friday, as will the rest of the Philadelphia metropolitan area and parts of northern and central Jersey.

Meanwhile, meteorologists are expecting thunderstorms on Friday night, which will lead to a heat wave next week.

Here is the latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service for Burlington County:

  • Friday: Mostly sunny. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hot with highs around 35 degrees. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. 50% chance of rain.
  • Friday night: Mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely, especially in the evening. A few thunderstorms may bring gusty winds and heavy rain in the evening. Lows around 65°F. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northerly after midnight. 70% chance of rain.
  • Saturday: Sunny, hot with highs in the 30s. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Saturday night: Mostly clear. Lows around 10 degrees. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny. Maximum temperatures around 30 degrees.
