Man dies in ‘serious accident’ at book publisher’s plant in Crawfordsville – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – An Illinois man died Wednesday in what the mayor’s office called a “serious accident” in the loading dock of a book publishing company.

Adam Raad of Alsip, Illinois, died some time after the crash at a local hospital, the Crawfordsville mayor’s office said in a news release issued Thursday. He was a truck driver for Chicago-based Fast Line Trucking. An autopsy on Raad is planned.

Fire and police were called Wednesday to Lakeside Book Co., North Plant, 1009 Sloan St., a few blocks southwest of downtown Crawfordsville. The news release did not specify when police and fire were called.

Investigators believe that another Fast Line driver, 34-year-old Mahmoud Mousa of Burbank, Illinois, and Raad arrived at the book factory in separate trucks to pick up goods as scheduled.

Mousa told investigators that while Raad was maneuvering a large container backwards using his tandem trailer axles, without Mousa’s knowledge, he climbed into the back of the trailer to open the container. The moving container collided with Raad, resulting in his injuries.

The book publisher’s plant is located about 65 minutes northwest of Indianapolis. Crawfordsville, a city of almost 16,500 residents, is located in Montgomery County.

Crawfordsville police said Thursday that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Bob Rivers at (765) 362-3762, extension 233.
