Prairieville man arrested after living with body and failing to report it to police

PRAIRIEVILLE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – A Prairieville man was arrested for failing to report a dead body.

According to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives were called to a home on Melrose Drive around noon Wednesday to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, detectives found the body of a deceased man. Detectives also found Garryl Blouin, 37, inside the home.

During an investigation, investigators learned that Blouin remained in the home with the deceased man for several days without reporting to authorities. The man’s identity and cause of death are currently unknown.

According to the sheriff’s office, there is no suspicion of foul play.

Blouin was arrested and taken to the Ascension Parish Jail for failing to seek assistance.

Further details were not immediately available. The investigation is still ongoing.
