AMBER ALERT issued for two girls whose mother was murdered in Loranger

Jalie Brunett and Erin Brunett

An Amber Alert has been issued for two missing girls whose mother was found murdered in their home. According to Trooper William Huggins of the State Police, the two girls were abducted from a home in Loranger before 8 a.m. this morning. LSP issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“Erin Brunett is a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, about 3 feet tall, weighs about 30 pounds, and is three years old. And then Jalie Burnett is a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, about 4 feet tall, weighs 55 pounds, and is six years old,” Huggins said.

An unidentified white male is wanted for questioning in connection with the domestic incident and kidnapping. Huggins said he is believed to be driving a black 2012 Chrysler 200.

“The car has a Louisiana license plate of 859 GML, but the hubcap on the right rear tire is missing and there is likely damage to the rear of the vehicle,” Huggins said.

According to Sheriff Daniel Edwards, the murder occurred at a home on North Cooper Road in Loranger. Detectives found 35-year-old Callie Brunette dead in the home 24 hours after she was reported missing. Officials said Brunett’s two children were not in the home. Brunett’s car is also missing.

Huggins said they only issued Amber Alerts in desperate situations.

“If we believe that something could actually happen to children, that is the most serious type of alarm that we as Louisiana State Police will raise,” Huggins said.
