Ghaziabad woman arrested for sharing ‘tips’ on child sexual harassment on her social media channel

Ghaziabad (UP): A woman was arrested here on Thursday for allegedly giving “tips on sexual abuse of children” on her social media channel, police said.

The matter came to light after several people shared the woman’s objectionable video on X and urged the police to file a case against her.

In a YouTube video clip, the woman allegedly gives viewers “advice” on how to sexually exploit infants, it was said.

“We have arrested a certain Shikha Maitreya who made a video on her YouTube channel ‘Kunwari Begum’ giving tips on child sexual abuse,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh.

The police action against the woman came after the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma, took note of the video about X.

Sharma brought the incident to the attention of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman Priyank Kanoongo on the social media platform and demanded her arrest.

The police are continuing to investigate to ascertain Maitreya’s intentions behind her comments on her YouTube channel, the ACP added.
