Air quality warning issued for Middle Tennessee on Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An air quality advisory is in effect for the Nashville area and surrounding counties until noon Friday, issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

The counties included: Cannon, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Maury, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson and Wilson.

This is a Code Orange, meaning it is unhealthy for sensitive groups. People with lung and heart problems, as well as the elderly and young, should limit time spent outdoors.

According to AirNow, ground-level ozone concentrations in the region could reach or exceed harmful limits. The general population is unlikely to be affected. Active children and adults, as well as people with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid prolonged physical exertion outdoors.
