Arrested Development headlines Schenectady County SummerNight

SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) — Two-time Grammy-winning hip-hop group Arrested Development will headline SummerNight in Schenectady County on Friday, July 12. The group was scheduled to perform at SummerNight 2023, but was unable to make it because their flight was canceled due to inclement weather.

Schenectady County SummerNight is a free street festival held each year in Schenectady on State Street between Broadway and Barrett Streets and on Jay Street. Kale, a jam trio, will open the event at 5 p.m., followed by Albany-based funk collective NolaNauts. Powerhouse Funk will play at 7 p.m. and Arrested Development will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.

“We are excited to feature hip-hop group Arrested Development at Schenectady County SummerNight, the Capital Region’s largest summer party,” said Schenectady County Representative Cathy Gatta. “From live music to delicious local food and drinks, this event is a great opportunity for the whole community to come together and have a fantastic evening.”

This year, the street festival will feature beverages from Schenectady Sips, including six breweries, three distilleries and one mead brewery. The locally produced beer, spirits and mead come from:

  • Back Barn Brewery
  • Druthers Brewery
  • Frog Alley Brewery
  • The Great Flats Brewery
  • Seven Points Brewery
  • Wolf Hollow Brewing Company
  • Murray’s Fools Distilling Company
  • 36 Castles Farm Distilleries
  • Mill Lane Distillery
  • Helderberg Meadworks

“We are excited to showcase the incredible work of our local beverage producers at Schenectady County SummerNight,” said Gary Hughes, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature. “This new partnership not only enhances the experience, but also supports our local businesses and community.”

Schenectady Sips partners and other vendors will have drinks, food and desserts for sale throughout the event. Downtown restaurants and shops will also be open during the event.
