American tourist killed in electrical accident in Puerto Peñasco

PUERTO PEÑASCO, MX (AZFamily) – Two Americans were electrocuted at a resort in the beach town of Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, leaving one man dead and a woman seriously injured.

According to Sonora state authorities, the electrocution occurred around 8:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Local TV station TV Azteca reported that the incident occurred at the Sonoran Sea Resort and was apparently caused by an electrical fault.

Authorities identified the deceased man as 43-year-old Jorge “N.” and the injured woman as Lizeth “N.”, whose age is unknown.

According to several media reports, both were visiting from the El Paso (Texas) area.

No further information has been released. An investigation is currently underway by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora.
