Houston ISD will open its summer feeding program on June 17

The Houston Independent School District has announced its annual summer feeding program that will begin next week.

The program, which opens Friday, June 17 and runs through Friday, July 19, will provide any child under the age of 18 and students with disabilities enrolled at HISD up to age 21 with free, healthy meals during summer school. to break.

School officials said these meals help ensure that students who rely on school meals during the school year continue to have access to good nutrition during summer break and return to school healthy. healthy and ready to learn in the fall.

The program will operate Monday through Friday with breakfast service each day from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and lunch service from 11:00 a.m. to noon (or later, as specified by individual campuses having more than one lunch period).
