Update: 13.06.2024 10:14 IST

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner issued an order suspending three policemen from Mangalhat police station and ordered that two police superintendents be sent to the headquarters on suspicion of involvement in corrupt practices.

Police officers Mahender Yadav, Tilak Raj and Shravan, and two police superintendents – Narendar and Srinivas – are accused of colluding with history-sheeters, drug peddlers and other criminals and siphoning off their share of the proceeds of crime.

Based on information, the police higher-ups ordered an inquiry and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner initiated action against them. It is to be noted that recent investigations revealed that local police officers, head constables and sub-inspectors in various police stations in southwest and south Hyderabad were allegedly working with the PDS rice and wheat mafia, illegal liquor outlets and rowdies and earning illegal money. There were also complaints that the local police were making settlements in civil cases with the help of local leaders.
