Man attacks Pinole police station employee – NBC Bay Area

A man was arrested after assaulting a Pinole Police Department employee, officials said.

The incident was reported around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to police, the man came into the lobby, went to the counter and rang the bell several times. He then grabbed the saleswoman by the arm and climbed over the counter and through the service window.

The employee managed to free herself and, with the help of another employee, get to another area.

“He approached the counter, rang the bell three times and she greeted him,” said Pinole Police Commander Matt Avery. “Very scary, very traumatic for the employee. Fortunately, there were other employees in the building who were able to help her get into an administrative office and secure the door there.”

The man was identified as 65-year-old Chester Victor of San Pablo. According to officials, Victor said he “wanted to start the conversation and prove he was a man.”

“We deal with people who are not having the best day or have some animosity toward us, but nothing like this,” Avery said.

The employee suffered minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

Police said they were unsure of Victor’s motive but that the investigation was ongoing.

Victor was charged with kidnapping, assault and battery.
