Man dead after shooting near Maymont in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man is dead after police found him shot near Maymont in Richmond Wednesday night.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, Richmond Police officers were called to the 1300 block of Hampton Road for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. According to police, he was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information is currently available.
