Salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers

Epidemiological data show that cucumbers can be contaminated with Salmonella and can make people sick. Tests identified Salmonella in a cucumber collected as part of this investigation, which led to a recall. Further testing showed that the Salmonella of the cucumber was a different variety Salmonella than the one that makes people sick. The CDC is not currently investigating an outbreak involving this strain. Investigators are gathering more information to determine if other cucumbers are affected.
