Fourth suspect arrested in alleged gang robbery in Bloomington – San Bernardino Sun

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with a home robbery in Bloomington in March. Investigators believe the robbery is part of a series of such robberies, along with assault and extortion offenses, authorities said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, June 11, sheriff’s investigators arrested Vincent Solarez, 58, of Upland, in connection with the home invasion in which two people were robbed of $12,500 in cash and one person was assaulted with a firearm, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

On Tuesday morning, detectives observed Solarez driving a vehicle near Campus Avenue and Washington Boulevard in Upland and arrested him after a traffic stop.

Solarez was arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping for the purpose of robbery, false imprisonment and conspiracy to commit a crime and was being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $1 million bail, according to San Bernardino County Jail records.

The burglary occurred around 3 a.m. on March 12. Two victims, a man and a woman, were awakened at gunpoint by three armed suspects in the 18000 block of Valley Boulevard in Bloomington, a sheriff’s news release said.

The man was hit with a firearm and dragged to his desk while the woman was held against her will.

The robbers stole cash, video surveillance footage from the apartment and a victim’s vehicle.

Investigators had previously identified Marcos Guerrero (48) of Glendora, Elijah Gafare (35) of West Covina and Cynthia Leal (38) of Ontario as suspects in the robbery, the press release said.

According to the sheriff’s press release, Guerrero and Leal were arrested at a residence in the 1000 block of East Foothill Boulevard in Glendora. Gafare was arrested at a residence in the 700 block of South Manzanita Drive in West Covina.

All three were arrested on May 30 on suspicion of home invasion, assault with a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, the release said.

According to a sheriff’s press release, investigators believe all four suspects have ties to gangs in the Inland Empire and are responsible for additional unreported home invasions, robberies and extortions of local business owners.
